Friends of the Downtown hosts free monthly meeting

The Friends of the Downtown will host Dan Douglas, director of urban planning and design for Kling Stubbins, the consulting firm hired by the Town of Chapel Hill and the Downtown Partnership to develop the Downtown Development Framework & Action Plan, a guide for downtown development for  the next five to eight years. Douglas will present the draft plan for public comments and questions during a meeting that begins at 10 a.m. July 29 at the Franklin Hotel downtown.
 
The Friends of the Downtown Aug. 26 meeting will feature a speaker who will discuss future development at University Square.
 
Parking is available behind the hotel. Friends of the Downtown meetings are free and open to the public.
